BURAYU TALENT DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) of the FDRE is mandated to initiate policies, strategies, laws and programs for the development and application of innovation & technology that sustainably ensure the development and competitiveness of the country’s economy. The Ministry is attempting to create enabling environment for development of gifted and talented Ethiopians as a base for the development of the required scientists, technologists, innovators, entrepreneurs and transformational leaders needed in the country’s development.
The Ministry has taken the initiative to establish Talent Development School at Burayu in order to create opportunity for the gifted and talented students to learn and grow in an enabling environment thereby develop their analytical and critical abilities to advanced level. It is a government owned school and managed by the Office of Talent Development School established under the Ministry. Establishing a special school that focuses on cultivating and nurturing the talent of the bright learners is assumed to help Ethiopia and beyond in terms of getting high caliber innovators, technologists, scientists, business people, and transformational leaders.
The Ministry has built nine blocks of buildings with necessary facilities to be used by the Talent Development School. The school has already started hosting boot camp trainings for innovators and talented students in collaboration with stakeholders like the Ministry of Labor & Skill, Innovators Development Institute, and Space Science & Geospatial Institute. Other collaborating stakeholders also include: the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education, INSA and AI. It is believed that such training is useful for the stakeholders in achieving their role in the country’s development.
